History

The chair was founded in 1998 in V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. Its first name was «The chair of international economics and international economic relations», after the specialty of tourism was established, the chair was renamed as «The chair of international economic relations, regional geography and tourism». When international relationships and tourism faculty was established, on the base of «The chair of international economic relations, regional geography and tourism», 2 chairs: «Chair of international economic relations» and «Chair of tourism» were created. There is a postgraduate study, Center of international humanitarian cooperation and international business relations in the region at the chair.

The founder and the head of the chair is distinguished scientist of Ukraine, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Ukraine – Doctor of Geography, professor A.P. Golikov.

For Prospective Students

Over the past 15 years the chair has prepared couple hundreds of specialists, who work successfully in different areas of science and manufacture. Among them there are citizens of China, Belorussia, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, Israel, Morocco, Jordan, Turkey etc, who completes postgraduate and received Ph.D.

Tuition can be charged on student or on the budget of the state. Also there are 2 forms of education: full-time education and by correspondence.

During the education boys can pass military training and get the rank of reserve officer.

The sphere of activity of alumni: department of foreign economic relations of enterprises, travel agencies, trade missions abroad, customs service, diplomatic and consular service (see the list of possible positions and work placement). If an A-student wants to continue his education he can pass the exam to postgraduate study.

Science:

Chair’s main areas of research are:

  1. cross-border cooperation (professor Golikov A., professor Kazakova N., assistant professor Chernomaz P., assistant professor Dmitriev V., assistant professor Goncharenko N., assistant professor Zhuravlev O.);
  2. structural changes in the sphere of commodity circulation in Ukraine and other countries (professor Sidorov V.);
  3. legal support of international economics (assistant professor Dmitriev V, assistant professor Zhuravlev O.);
  4. external relations of Ukraine (assistant professor Grigorov-Berenda L., senior lecturer Savchenko I.);
  5. international tourism (professor Kazakova N., assistant professor Grigorov-Berenda L., senior lecturer Kassian S.);
  6. external trade (assistant professor Grigorova-Berenda L.);
  7. international finance (professor Tsiganov S.);
  8. monetary policy and investment (professor Matyushenko I., Jakubowski S.).

The chair is an initiator of creation of Ukrainian-Russian euroregion «Slobozhanschina».

There is student scientific society in the chair. Over the last 5 years personnel of the chair with students have published over than 50 articles, 40 monographs and have taken part in more than 150 conferences, which were devoted to topical questions of international economic relations, economics and cross-border co-operation. The chair has issued more than 10 scientific publications of scientific works.

15 November 2013 the chair is to organize and hold regular scientific conference: «Ukrainian-Russian border status and prospects».

There is postgraduate studies with specialty of «World economy and international economic relations» in the chair. Over the last 5 years post-graduate students and applicants of the chair have made 10 Ph.D. theses. Today there are 10 postgraduate students in the chair.

In 2010 special academic Council K 64.051.25 was opened with the right of acceptance and conducting thesis for Ph.D. of economics 08.00.02 – World economy and international economic relations.

Specialty description

A holder of Master’s degree in International Economic Relations is prepared for performing professional functions in the following fields: financial agency, insurance, real estate activities, leasing, working with databases, research and development, services mainly for legal entities, public administration, public service.

A holder of Specialist’s degree in International Economic Relations is prepared for performing professional functions in the following fields: financial agency, insurance, real estate activities, leasing, working with databases, research and development, services mainly for legal entities, public administration, public service.

The list of possible positions and workplace

The master of International economic relations specialty is able to perform the professional work: “economist and international affairs expert”, “translator” and can hold an appointments: economist, economist on accounting and analysis of economic activities, economist on planning, economist on financial activity, reviewer on economic issues, economist on contractual and pretentious work, lecturer (assistant), expert analyst of commodity market research, consultant on economic issues, economic adviser, translator.

Term of study and state certification

The term of study by the Bachelor’s training program is 4 years, by Specialist’s training program (1 year after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree) and by Master’s training program (1 year after obtaining a Bachelor’s or Specialist’s degree) is 1 year.

To obtain a Bachelor’s degree students pass a state test exam in their special subject (international economic relations), which covers the following subjects:

  • economic-mathematical modeling of global economic processes,
  • international economic relations,
  • the theory and practice of foreign trade,
  • world finance.

There are state attestation forms in order to earn a master`s degree. There is a diploma defense and a comprehensive state assessment with a specialization in international economic relations. This assessment includes such subjects as:

  • Global Macroeconomic Policy,
  • an academic seminar on Immediate Problems of the World Economy and International Economic Relations,
  • Ukraine in the System of the World Economic Relations,
  • Regional Development Strategy (the European context).

There are also state assessments in Theory and Practice of Interpreting and Foreign Language.

There are state attestation forms in order to earn a specialist`s degree. They is a diploma defense and a comprehensive state assessment with a specialization in international economic relations. This assessment includes such subjects as:

  • World Financial Environment,
  • Post Socialist Countries in the Modern World,
  • Global Macroeconomic Policy,
  • Ukraine`s Foreign Economic Activity.

There are also state assessments in Theory and Practice of Interpreting and Foreign Language.

Certificate about the education, received earlier, and appendix to the certificate (Originals or their notarized copies)

Original of Ukrainian center of education quality evaluation certificate or its notarized copy, which were received in the current year 

Medical certificate form 086-O

Photographs, size 3 cm x 4 cm – 6 pcs

Envelopes with Ukrainian stamps – 4 pcs

Passport (birth certificate for those, who don’t have a passport due to their age), military ticket (certification about the postscript to draft office), original of the certificate about the education (if it’s copy was given before), originals of certificates, certificate about the privileges, should be taken with you.
