The Department of Political Sociology was created in 2005.

The Department trains specialists on the specialty “Sociology” (Bachelor’s, Specialist’s, Masters’s qualification level).

Department Areas of Specialism: Political Sociology, Political Marketing and Political Consulting.

Department graduates with Specialist's and Master's degrees are awarded the qualifications of sociologists and teachers of Sociology.

Spheres of professional activities for alumni of the Department: bodies of public and municipal administration and self-government; political parties; non-governmental organizations (charities, public organizations); centers for studies of public thought, research organizations on social and political issues; higher and secondary educational institutions; marketing services, etc.

According to the agreement on cooperation between the Department and the Department of Domestic Policy of Kharkiv Regional State Administration signed in 2005, the Department’s students undergo continuing internship at the bodies of Regional State Administration (students begin taking part in the internship program since 3rd year of their studies).

Research Projects of Political Sociology Department:

• Sociological Analysis of Practices of Political Extremism in Contemporary Ukraine and Countries of Eastern Europe (2009–2011 years);
• Institutionalization of Structural Inequalities and Conflicts in Contemporary Ukraine and Countries of Eastern Europe (2006–2008 years).
