History

Subdepartment of Economic Theory is one of the oldest subdepartments in Kharkov University, which gained the status of all-university subdepartment after the resumption of the University in 1933. It gained rich traditions of teaching of different economic disciplines. The staff of the subdepartment combines the saving of university traditions with the account of the demands of time, reporting of urgent problems of nowadays.

In postwar period the subdepartment became graduating. It’s alumnus formed the basis of scientific-teaching staff in the branch of economic theory of left-bank Ukraine and the Crimea. More than 40 grades became Doctors of Economics, Professors.

In 1992 the subdepartment divided into all-university subdepartment of economic theory and the subdepartment of economic theory and economic methods of management of economic department.

All-university subdepartment was headed by Doctors of Economics, Professor Vorobyov Evgen Michaylovich

In 2005 the subdepartment of economic theory joined the department of International economic relations and touristic business.

Science

The scientific research of the subdepartment is carried out in the problem ‘Common regularities of transformation economy and its particularities in Ukraine’.

Simultaneously scientists carried out researches in such directions as ‘State regulation of food market as a condition of national security of Ukraine’, ‘Entrepreneurship in the system of agrarian economy’ ‘Institutional component of market transformation’, ‘Institutional regulation of transactional costs as a factor of rising transformational potential stock market’. As a result of the latte a monograph was published ‘Transactional costs of stock market institutialisation’ by S.I. Archiereev, Y.V.Zinchenko, Kharkov, 2005.

In 5 recent years the research workers published more than 85 articles, 14 monographs, took part in the work of 49 scientific conferences which dealt with urgent questions of economy.

the subdepartment of economic theory carries out the teaching of general courses for students of noneconomic specialties ‘Economic theory’, “Microeconomics’, ‘Macroeconomics, ‘Political economy’.

Special courses for bachelors: ‘Basis of business and entrepreneurship’, ‘Basis of management and marketing’, ‘Management of organisations’, ‘Management of innovation’, ‘Situational management’, ‘Economics of education’, ‘Basis of entrepreneurial activity’, ‘Theory of firm: economic and legal basis (the formation and functioning)’, ‘Technique of the search of the work: communicative principles’, ‘Basis of external economic relations’, ‘International transfer of technologies’, “Personnel management’.

During last 5 years the subdepartment has published 20 manuals and tutorials for, 13 methodical manuals and ‘Dictionary of economic terms’.
