V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University began to train specialists for foreign countries in 1948. In 1961, the University established one of Ukraine’s first preparatory schools for foreign citizens. During these years, more than 13,000 foreign citizens have received pre-university training at the Preparatory School.

The Institute of International Education for Study and Research combines academic centers, departments, the Preparatory Department, the Department of Recognition and Legalization of Educational Documents, other subdivisions that conduct research and educational activities to ensure a high level of training for foreign citizens and stateless persons.

The main task of the Institute is to form in international students a unified system of knowledge and the level of proficiency in the languages chosen by students for professional education in Ukraine.
