Sociology Department was founded on 1980.

Sociology Department provides preparation on speciality “Sociology” on Bachelor and Master Degrees.

Department’s Specializations – «Social structures and social processes», «Socio-cultural expertise».

Bachelors and Masters of Sociology Department get qualification "Sociologist, Lecturer in Sociology".

Graduates of Department are able to work in: higher education establishments as lecturers; scientific and research establishments: sociology centers; marketing organizations; state governance; expertise and consulting; personnel management; mass-media etc.

Students of Department have their professional and educational practice in Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University (Lutsk), Ivan Franko Lviv National University (Lviv), NTU “KhPI”, KhNUVS and some other Kharkiv higher educational establishments and in Kharkiv regional state administration also. Special contracts between Department and these structures provide such possibility to students of our Department.

Research experience of Department is over 40 years. 5 scale international researches in Post-Soviet student youth’ problematics were provided by Department during last 10 years.

Scientifical and research Projects of Department (during last years):

• "Problems of forming of Ukrainian youth' civic identity: role of education as the factor of societal consolidation" (2008-2009);
• "Spiritual world of modern Ukrainian students: between national and global" (2010-2011).
