General information

The main goal is development of the certified practical course "Mediation skills in Health and Social Care" for employees of medical and social institutions and improvement of communication proficiency among health care professionals and social workers. Integration of innovative methods of dispute resolution (mediation skills) into the practice of medical institutions and social care institutions, training medical personnel and social workers in conflict-free communication skills in order to create a safe favorable environment for medical workers and patients, socials workers and clients, reduce social tension, and improve the quality of medical and social care.

The main tasks of the project are to:

  • develop a certified practical program "Mediation skills in Health and Social Care";
  • develop and publish training manual;
  • develop short video course/simulations;
  • deliver the course to participants;
  • train at least 15 participants in first cohort;
  • prepare a final report on the implementation of the Project.

Expected results:

The project will give health and social care employees an innovative tool to reduce the number of conflicts, propose mutually beneficial solutions to existing disputes and prevent new ones.

  • developed practical certificated course "Mediation skills in Health and Social Care" (150 hours, 5 ECTS);
  • 5 video lectures/simulations were prepared;
  • published training manual (200 pcs.);
  • survey on the main conflicts in health care and social care institution among at least 50 respondents;
  • information in at least 10 mass media about the project;
  • first cohort of participants is trained (at least 15 people);
  • expanded access of stakeholders to the knowledge base in the field of mediation skills in health and social care;
  • increased the awareness of stakeholders (representatives of the health care and social care sector, citizens about the possibilities of using mediation skills to resolve conflict situations through dissemination of the information about project, mediation and its results;
  • identified the key areas of conflict in health and social care institutions and determined the role of mediation skills in their resolution;
  • disseminated the information about the project in the wide community.
  • At Karazin University, the project is being implemented on the basis of the ERI “Karazin Business School”
