Online Exhibition "Colored Glasses: Life Among Others" in "YermilovCenter"
The Center for Contemporary Art YermilovCenter is opening the online exhibition "Colored Glasses: Life Among Others", which aims to comprehend the ideas of multiculturalism in Ukraine.
The exhibition is the result of the Ukrainian-Canadian partnership, as it is part of the art project "Cultural Mosaic of the City", which aims to study the idea of multiculturalism in Ukraine. The project is being implemented by the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, and the YermilovCenter.
Reflecting on the concept of multiculturalism, the curators of the exhibition turned to the image of colored glasses — those cultural contexts at the intersection of which the Ukrainian identity is formed in the mobile cultural landscape of the country.
In the project, culture is compared to the glass through which a person sees the world. Its color is a vision-forming experience. In interaction with other worldviews, contexts collide, conflicts arise, and get resolved.
The digital format of the exhibition creates a space in which there are no walls, only windows. Each page of the site is a window into the author's world. The online format makes it possible, on the one hand, to enter into a private dialogue with a work of art, on the other - makes it part of an open global network.
The exhibition includes works by young artists who raise current issues of the Ukrainian cultural space.
The YermilovCenter invites you to reflect on them by watching the exhibition.
