The official inauguration of more than 15 thousand freshmen of Kharkiv higher educational establishments took place on the central Kharkiv square - the Liberty square on the 1 of September.

The holiday ceremony began at 18.00 with the parade of Kharkiv higher educational establishments. The column of freshmen, teachers and presidents of Kharkiv universities, academies and institutes was walking along the square.

The column of Kharkiv Karazin national university was headed by the President, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Corresponding Member of the Pedagogical Sciences Academy of Ukraine Vil S. Bakirov.

The freshmen were greeted be the head of the Kharkiv state administration Mykhaylo Dobkin, the mayor Hennadiy Kernes, the People's deputy of Ukraine Valeriy Pysarenko and the presidents of higher educational establishments. They signed the chronicle of Kharkiv students in the form of a big book. The column of motorcyclists with a symbolic fire of knowledge passed the square.

Then there was a flash mob, where the dancers of the Kharkiv team of the TV show "Maydance" took part, among them 15 thousand freshmen, 20 dance groups and thousands of volunteers who had registered in the social network for participating. This flash mob came into the Ukraine's Book of records as the massest flash mob by the amount of dancers in one city - 22.5 thousand people. The certificate which was read out by the head of the Kharkiv President Council, the President of Kharkiv Karazin national university Vil S. Bakirov.

After that there was a performance of Max Barskih, Timati, the group "Nikita" and "Chelsy".

The holiday finished with a firework nearly at 22.30.
