Authentic Culture of Eastern Ukraine
The Summer School offers Russian language courses at Beginner level, visits to prominent sights and a great opportunity to learn about national traditions of Eastern Ukraine. International students of the summer school will immerse themselves in the culture of Eastern Ukraine with all its historical landmarks and explore Ukrainian cities and regions. The program also includes lectures and discussions in Area Studies and Russian Language courses.

ACCOMMODATION Accommodation in the University hostel (double and triple rooms). CULTURAL ACTIVITIES AND FIELD TRIPS Museums, parks, city-tours, welcome and goodbye party, Open-air picnic. Trip to Verkhniy Saltov Reserve. Verkhniy Saltov Historical and Archeological Reserve is situated on the high picturesque bank of the Pechenihy reservoir (the Seversky Donets river). Village of Opishnia. National Museum-Reserve of Ukrainian Pottery. Krasnokutsk Tree Park. Ukraine, Kharkiv region, Krasnokutsk village. One of the oldest tree parks in Ukraine founded more than 200 years ago. The park features over 300 species of rare plants. Natalievka Estate. Ukraine, Kharkiv region, Krasnokutsk district, Vladimirovka village. Koenig’s Manor. Ukraine, Kharkiv region, Sharovka village. One of the oldest landmarks of the Ukrainian gardening and palace architecture. “Singing terraces” (natural sanctuary). A masterpiece of park and garden architecture — a series of cascading man-made terraces. Special structure of the terraces produces a characteristic acoustic effect, and the sounds are amplified.
