Biography
Born: June 8, 1946, Kharkiv. Graduated from Kharkiv Law Institute (1970). Completed postgraduate course at M. Gorky Kharkiv State University (1976). PhD (1976), DSc (1991). Kharkiv Institute of Radio Electronics (1972-1982), V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (since 1982). 1990, Dean of the first School of Sociology in Ukraine. 1992, created and headed the Social Technologies Dept. (since 1992 Applied Sociology Dept.).
Lectured at the University of Bologna (1993) and the University of Padua (1994). Internship at the University of California at San Diego. (1994-1995). The President of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (since 1998).
Research interests: theoretical and methodological problems of education and upbringing, cultural and institutional changes in the post-soviet Ukraine, tendencies in the development of university education in the light of post-industrial globalization.
Author and co-author of over 100 publications.
Head of the Board of Presidents Higher Educational Institutions of the III-IV level of accreditation in Kharkiv region; President of the Sociology Association of Ukraine; Head of the Editorial Board of the UNIVERSITATES. Nauka i Prosvita (UNIVERSITATES. Science and Education) Journal; member of the Editorial Boards of such Journals as
